A brief history of Agape Television Station (ATN)

World Agape Ministries (WAM) is the initial founding Ministry which was established in 1983. Through this ministry Evangelism & Training began, raising people to reach the unreached at any cost.

1987 Schools of Ministry were started in main cities of Tanzania spreading to Village level

1992 The Ministry was registered with the Republic of Tanzania and has been working closely with the churches in the country for over 20 years.

1995 God gave Vernon & Anny a Vision to reach the Nation of Tanzania through Television in 1995. Initially, the Ministry programs were aired every Sundays on a Muslim owned television station called DTV reaching over 1.6 million people.

1996 The Ministry launched an application through Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) to establish and to register its own Television Station under WAM called Agape Television Network – ATN.

1997 After much struggle in searching for a plot, the Ministry through an auction obtained a plot in Mbezi, Dar es Salam for US$ 100,000.

May 2000 World Agape Ministries finally received it’s frequency to start the educational & inspirational channel television.

Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) usa, came in to help put the towers, satellite and transmission equipment.

The Government insisted on 60% local programming

Cornerstone Television Network(CTVN) USA came in and donated equipment and renovated the existing studio to enable us to produce local programming

Sept. 2001 ATN was launched as - programmes to feed and refresh spirit and mind with no fear of insinuation of unwanted or unsuitable materials. It is the Ministry plan to reach/penetrate various regions in Tanzania coupled with Seminars and Crusades to complement the spreading of the Gospel of Christ.

July 2004 The Tanzanian Government approved frequencies up to 4 regions in the country.
