AGAPE TELEVISION NETWORK (ATN) is a local Television Station situated in Mbezi Beach in Dar es Salaam.It has been in operation since 2001 and is The Educational and Inspirational Channel aimed at building and strengthening relationships in our society realizing that the family is the nucleus that forms a society that is responsible. A NEW VOICE IN CHRISTIAN MEDIA What began in 1995 as a vision has grown into broadcasting for 24 hours a day with a wide impact to the society of Tanzania and beyond.Dedicated to bring a new standard to Christian media. ATN has become a core of all that God is doing among His people and a relevant voice to the nations in these last days.

The Station is run by faith by the tithes and offerings of the Agape Life Church and individual partner. Our vision is to reach the lost and equip the church through media. We endeavor to bring the best Christian ministry in Tanzania, lifestyle, youth and children’s programming to audience across Tanzania and beyond. ATN aims to achieve the vision by providing a multi – channel digital television and radio network that will reach across Africa, preaching the gospel and bringing to all people, exciting and relevant Christian teachings, worship and revival. Now, we are expanding into new regions and believe the Lord has opened up unprecedented opportunities to serve as a voice for His people in this generation.

World Agape Ministries was founded by Rev Vernon and Pastor Anny Fernandes who both received the call of God at different intervals and in different nations but who both studied in the same bible school in the US. Rev. Vernon Fernandes, a Tanzanian citizen, born and brought up in Tanga, got born again in Arusha on 8th July, 1979 and was visited by the Holy Spirit on 10th July, 1979 when he met with a Motor bike accident while traveling from Arusha to Tanga. He encountered the same experience that Apostle Paul encountered on the way to Damacus. A bright light shone and threw him down. And the Lord spoke,” I am the Lord you seek” He faithfully sat under the leadership of his Pastor Jotham Mwakimage, served as an usher, later promoted to be a deacon and finally was chosen as an Elder. In August 1982, he attended the first Morris Cerullo School of Ministry in Nairobi Kenya.

On his way to the school, the Kenyan government came under a coup, and so had to stay at the border until peace was restored in Nairobi. Under terrible conditions with the Army robbing, raping and killing he arrived two days late at the school. It was there when the Lord vividly spoke to him and called him into Ministry. But as a young boy, he told the Lord that he was not able to speak as he used to stammer. The Lord spoke back and said, It is I who calls you and I will send you into the nations of the world but first you must begin with your Jerusalem – Tanzania. He spoke back saying I am just a young boy, why don’t you choose somebody else? The Lord spoke back saying that I have chosen you and ordained you to take His power to the Nations of the World and that it will not be by might nor by power but by my Spirit says the Lord. That was 13th August, 1982. Ever since returning back to Tanzania, God began using Vernon in mighty ways. Signs, wonders and miracles began to follow his preaching. He turned his town upside down, then began going into the villages of his region and later resigned his career as an Audit Manager in January, 1984, so as to coordinate Dr Morris Cerullo’s work in Tanzania. He led the first delegation of 630 people to Nairobi and there was named the Moses of Tanzania.

God opened the door for ministry in the entire nation of Tanzania of which he faithfully took the unadulterated Word of God to various communities in Tanzania and outside Tanzania. God confirmed His word with signs following. Rev. Fernandes served the Lord faithfully and then asked the Lord for a life partner who would have the same vision and burden for souls. Not knowing that God would prepare his partner to come from another country.

The co-founder Mrs Rukumany Fernandes, (Anny Fernandes), a Malaysian, born and bred in Malaysia, was a staunch Hindu. Her father used to tell her “ You are born a Hindu and will die a Hindu”. Anny was tormented with ‘fear’ of darkness and oppressing spirits who used to come and try to strangle her to death. She went to all the witch doctors, mediums and fortune tellers in her town for help – but more and more demons came to torment her. Not knowing, with her ignorance and fear she sought the ‘Goddess of Kali’ one of the demon gods of Hinduism for help. This is where she almost came to the end of the rope when this God eventually came to murder her.

One day at her office she met an ex-Buddhist work-mate to whom Anny started sharing her problems. This work-mate happened to be a Christian and began sharing that there is hope in Jesus. Anny was still blinded (2 Cor4:4) in total darkness and answered her friend that ‘you Christians are brain washers and want to covert people’. Despite her fears and uncertainity of life Anny stood firm with her religious beliefs. Her friend did not give up on her and kept showing love and concern towards Anny. One day she invited her to church. Anny very reluctantly went and did not receive anything as her mind was totally darkened. She was then introduced to several former Hindu believers to share their testimony. Anny reluctantly but slowly began to understand.

Finally in Sept 1979, Anny decided to give her life to Jesus. Deliverance from demonic oppression took a complete turn in her life and she was finally free indeed. Gods Word will not return void- it has to complete its purpose in Anny’s life and it happened.

God called Anny in 1987 to serve Him and was granted a scholarship to study in the US. She came back after graduation and faithfully served in her home church – Grace Assemblies of God. As Director of Evangelism she started door to door ministry for her church and trained others to do what she was doing. She later received an invitation to go to Africa as a missionary. She obeyed the call and being one of the first Indian missionaries to travel all by herself came to serve the East African region in 1989.

In December 1990 Vernon and Anny got married and started life together in ministry. They preached the gospel in various towns and villages, cities and nations around the world. God began putting a burden upon their hearts to take the gospel via Television as Anny used to be a part time dramatist on the Government TV of Malaysia. While Vernon used to show Dr Morris Cerullo’s videos in the villages and towns of Tanzania and saw the impact of Audio Visual.

God gifted Anny & Vernon with 2 children, Bernize and Benjamin who help them out in the ministry. Bernice helps in the Sunday school and in non-linear editing while Benjamin helps with the cameras.

We Believe that ...

THE SCRIPTURES-The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. (2 Tim 3:16; 1 Thess 2:13; 2 Pet 1:21)

THE TRIUNE GOD consists of the Father; the Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Spirit. They are coexistent, coeternal and coequal.

GOD THE FATHER is the Creator of Heaven and Earth and the Sustainer of all things. There is but one God, infinite,eternal and perfect in holiness, truth and love.

GOD THE SON, JESUS, was supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin, Mary, and was without sin. He was the vicarious sacrifice for the sin of all mankind through His death on the cross. He arose from the dead in His own glorified body, appeared to many, ascended to Heaven, and will return to earth in power and glory. He now is the head of His Body, the Church.

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, unites man to Jesus Christ in faith, brings about the new birth, and dwells within the believer, enabling him to grow in sanctification and righteousness, and become a gift of God to the Church.

MAN, HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION - Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. The Bible says"..all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God," and "..There is no righteous, no, not one." (Rom 3:10; 3:23). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the works of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God (Rom 5:14;1 John 3:8).

SALVATION is the gift of God through the grace and faith of Jesus Christ.(Eph 2:8-9). There is no other Name except that of Jesus Christ by which men must be saved. By turning from sin to repentance and trusting in Christ. Man is born again into eternal life by the Holy Spirit.The new birth is necessary to all men, and when experienced, produces eternal life (2 Cor 7:10; John 3:3-5; 1 John 5:12).

WATER BAPTISM - Baptism in water is by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection (Matt 28:19; Rom 6:4)

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY GHOST - The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the new birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance (Matt 3:11; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38,39).

SANCTIFICATION - The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see God. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ's return (Heb 12:14; 1Thess 5:23; 2 Pet 3:18).

DIVINE HEALING - Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today (James 5:14,15; Mark 16:18; Is 53:4,5; Matt 8:17; 1 Pet 2:24).

RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORD - The angels said to Jesus' disciples, "...this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." His coming is imminent. When He comes,"...the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air..."(Acts 1:11; 1Thess 4:16, 17) Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of kings, and Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years (Rev 5:10; 20:6)

HELL AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION - The one who physically dies in his sins without accepting Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the lake of fire and, therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The lake of fire is literal. The terms "eternal' and "everlasting," used is describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the lake of fire, carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the Presence of God (Heb 9:27; Rev 19:20).

Divine Healing & Deliverance – We believe that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever(Heb13:6). Therefore He still heals physical illness and delivers from demonic oppression. He has commanded the church to do the same.(Mark16:17-18/Luke10:1-2)

The Church – is the body and bride of Christ empowered to do the same works that Jesus did.To teach and train and make disciples of all men. The church is purposed to reveal the mysteries of God.

We are in the process of gathering funds to build a Recreational Hall (Multipurpose) for our children and youths. We realize that they need to be trained so as to build up their talents and skills. We also need to build 3 large studios where local programs can be produced, dubbed, subtitled, edited so as to bring a good diet to all our viewers.. Thereby we can bring good local programs.

We intend to obey the command of “Go ye into all the world……Hence Tanzania is our Jeruleselem and as we put a satellite link it would cover the whole of Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia. The satellite uplink base will cost approximately $300,000 The annual cost of uplink $180,000
